Tonsils are pairs of lymphoid tissues that is found on either side of the throat and they are part of the immune system and function in protecting the body from bacteria and viruses which enters via the mouth or the nose. Cryptic tonsils can become distended and eventually lead to difficulty in breathing and talking. In most circumstances, the infection will lead to a fever and there is a yellow or white colored discharge that coats the tonsils.
