Our workplace approved training providers offer several different first aid programs as well as stand-alone CPR training. It can be a confusing task finding the right course. We have outlined all of the major programs offered through workplace approved providers.

Classes are well structured, fun and interactive. Finding the right course and right provider can be difficult. 1st aid courses are valuable courses that prepare people to be prepared to handle almost any emergency, big or small. These basic courses, offered throughout Canada, teach candidates to treat victims of a variety of emergencies, from nose bleeds to fractured spines. However, with the number of different Canadian first aid providers and a variety of different 1st aid and CPR courses available, choosing the right course can be confusing. This website is designed to help you select the right 1st aid class, with the right provider near you.

Top 1st Aid and CPR Providers in Canada

Canada has over 25 first aid providers that offer basic 1st aid training. Candidates need to be wary of providers that do not meet government legislative standards for the province. Canada has four major providers that offer 99% of the 1st aid and CPR courses. All four of these providers meet legislative standards for basic first aid courses:

  • St. Johns Ambulance
  • St Mark James
  • Lifesaving Society
  • Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada

Variety of Different 1st Aid Programs

Candidates have the option of choosing from a variety of basic 1st aid courses. All first aid classes include training in CPR and in the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). Candidates do not have the option of taking stand-alone 1st aid classes. However, candidates do have the option of taking stand-alone CPR and AED training. The following is a list of the basic 1st aid, CPR, and AED courses offered through the major 4 providers:

  • Standard first aid, CPR, and AED
  • Emergency first aid, CPR and AED

The following is a list of the stand-alone CPR and AED courses available:

  • CPR level “A” and AED
  • CPR level “C” and AED
  • CPR level “C” for health care providers (CPR “HCP”) and AED

St Mark James 1st Aid Re-Certifications

Candidates that need to renew / re-certify previously awarded 1st aid and CPR certificates can take re-certification courses. These courses are shorter and cheaper than the full, original classes. The following is a list of available 1st aid and/or CPR re-cert courses through the major providers:

  • Standard first aid, CPR, and AED
  • Emergency first aid, CPR and AED
  • CPR level “C” and AED
  • CPR level “C” for health care providers (CPR “HCP”) and AED
